For more than half of my life I've been translating works by a great Russian poet / singer / bard Vladimir Vysotsky into English. But I wanted them to be more than just translations. I wanted them to be songs: quality songs, interesting to a modern listener, both a fan of Vysotsky and a novice. The result was a unique album, featuring:
16 translated songs of Vladimir Vysotsky.
Modernized-yet-faithful arrangements of his songs: some -- traditional (acoustic and orchestral), some -- completely new.
A cast of 14 international performers, including stars from various genres: folk rock, classical music, blues, and heavy metal!
A 12 page booklet with translated lyrics and photos.
Very few people believe it is possible to translate Vysotsky. Disbelief is a common first reaction. Yet virtually everybody who has heard this cd enjoyed something about it: the translations, the arrangements, the melodies, the performance, or the musicianship. I sincerely hope there's something for everybody here.

The CD is $15 US. Flat S&H rate of $3 is applied, regardless of the quantity of discs that you order or your address, foreign or domestic. Order through PayPal (all you need is a credit card), and I will mail the cd to you as soon as I get to the post office. Then it takes 1-2 weeks for domestic and 2-3 weeks for international orders. The work on the second album of translations has begun. It's being produced by Yuri Naumov, legendary Russian blues guitarist. This time we are taking greater care of music. We are not afraid to experiment with compositions, sounds, and arrangements. We are looking to preserve the spirit, the poetry, and the vocal melody of the originals. Everything else is subject to change. Our main goal: to compose music that would match the poetry of Vysotsky. We realize how ambitious this sounds. Yet this is what makes it worth doing. There will be guest performers and surprises. Keep checking back for the updates!
